New for the 2014 Fall Season! We are offering a three-day intensive Felt Blocking Workshop. This class is designed for more advanced sewers, and students who have taken our intro class. Students will learn the technique of hat blocking, including: manipulating the felt on wooden hat blocks, wiring the brim, finishing hats to the appropriate size, and basic trimming techniques.
In the workshop, students will block two rabbit fur felt hats; one from a hood and one from a capline. Jill will walk you through the process from start to finish, and a variety of trimming techniques will be demonstrated. All materials to block and trim two hats are included in the price of the class, with the option to purchase additional felt bodies and trimmings if desired.
Students are welcomed and encouraged to bring their personal sewing machines so as to learn the process of hat finishing on a machine they are familiar and comfortable with using (so you can continue on your hat-making journey from home).
In our best attempt to accommodate all students' stylistic preferences, we will email you about your wishes for felt and trim colors before the class. Class dates and times are:
